A lunar density model consistent with topographic, gravitational, librational, and seismic data
نویسندگان
چکیده
A series of models of the lunar interior are derived from topographic, gravitational, librational, and seismic data. The librational parameters and low-degree gravity harmonics result primarily from surface height variations and only secondarily from lateral density variations. The moon departs from isostasy, even-for the low-degree harmonics, with a maximum superisostatic stress of 200 bars under the major mascon basins. The mean crustal thicknesses under different physiographic regions are: mascons, 3012 n R(8, •) = RoEET ̂ (8, •) nm nm n=0 m=0

A 1.5km-resolution gravity field model of the Moon
We present a high-resolution lunar gravity field model (LGM2011) that provides gravity accelerations, free-air gravity anomalies, selenoid undulations and vertical deflections over the entire Moon’s surface. LGM2011 is based on the Japanese SELENE mission that provides the lowand medium-frequency constituents of the gravity field, down to spatial scales of ~78 km. At spatial scales between ~78 ...

Gravitational waves are considered in thermal vacuum state. The amplitude and spectral energy density of gravitational waves are found enhanced in thermal vacuum state compared to its zero temperature counterpart. Therefore, the allowed amount of enhancement depends on the upper bound of WMAP-5 and WMAP-7 for the amplitude and spectral energy density of gravitational waves. The enhancement of ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Free-surface Topography on Seismic Waves in the Moon
Introduction: During the Apollo era, a four station seismic network was deployed upon the nearside of the Moon, and returned the first-ever seismic dataset for another body in the Solar System (Fig. 1). The Apollo passive seismic network consisted of four separate stations, deployed on the Moon by the Apollo 12, 14, 15, and 16 astronauts from 1969 to 1972, and remained in continuous operation u...
متن کاملSubsurface modeling of mud volcanoes, using density model and analysis of seismic velocity
Detection of subsurface structures by means of gravity method can be used to determine mass distribution and density contrast of rock units. This distribution could be detected by different geophysical methods, especially gravity method. However, gravity techniques have some drawbacks and can't be always successful in distinguishing subsurface structures. Performance of the gravity technique co...
متن کاملTopographic power spectra of cratered terrains: Theory and application to the Moon
Impact cratering produces characteristic variations in the topographic power spectral density (PSD) of cratered terrains, which are controlled by the size-frequency distribution of craters and the spectral content (shape) of individual features. These variations are investigated here in two parallel approaches. First, a cratered terrain model, based on Monte Carlo emplacement of craters and ben...
